Amazing Authors in August!
Summer is finally here! In three words, tell us how are you spending your summer this year?!
Invading the Earth.
Childhood memories - what was summertime in your childhood like?
I was born and lived in Iran for the first ten years of my life so summers were very hot. You could fry an egg on the veranda. Sometimes the tarmac on the road would go soft in the heat. I used to climb up in a tree in our garden and read books like the Three Musketeers. It was great!
Where would you most like to Get Caught Reading this summer & why?
In a bank vault. Because I would be in a bank vault.
You create amazing characters in your books! Which one would you choose to spend summer with & why?
Hmm... would I actually want to spend the summer with Dirk Lloyd, the Dark Lord? Of course, as his slave and writer minion I will have to spend the summer with him but would I choose too? It would be risky and exciting and full of adventure, so maybe I would.
Reading is the ultimate escape! Which book ‘world’ would you escape to for summer & why?
Obviously one of my own worlds. Other than that, pah! Who cares? Oh all right, middle earth from the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings probably. Or maybe the science fiction world I created for Harry in The Wrong Side of the Galaxy and A Galaxy Too Far. That would actually be a really cool world to live in. I know it's one of my own worlds I created, but I can't help myself, sorry.
Summer survival - name the three most essential things you take on holiday?
Anti-alien invasion cap visor, a manual on how to build a spaceship (it would be very big and keep me reading for a while) and loads of radiation cream.
Summertime selfie – who would you have a selfie with this summer & why? (Fictional, historical or alive today)
I’d have something like this.
Why? Can you imagine how useful it is to have a Dalek as your bestie?
Getting on a crowded train, finding a seat at a posh restaurant,
‘withdrawing’ money from the bank.... All so much easier!
Summertime travel – train, plane, automobile or other?
Other - NightMares - all black horses from hell, snorting sulphur with sparks flying from their iron hooves as they canter. Or maybe my own personal black Hearse with a fake coffin in the back, and flames down the sides. When you push a button a skeleton sits up and points at the car behind you. Heh, that'd scare off any tailgaters!
Inside or outside - best place to be creative in the summer?
Inside my Inner Sanctum in my Iron Tower of Despair, plotting to conquer the earth and stuff. Or maybe in the garden on a summer's eve, bees busy in the flowers, birds chitterling in the trees and flies buzzing around the body of my latest victim.
Stuck on permanent summer vacation? What three books would you choose to have with you?
Given that my own books are the only ones worth reading, and are clearly the best books ever written, why would I read anything else? Oh all right, perhaps there might be some others. Let me think......
Thank you for participating - have a great summer!
